Model Making
Basic toy model making involves a diverse set of materials and processes, and a plethora of finish options to achieve the results that many final production toys have. These finish options include painted or rubberized surfaces to decals and even hair and fur. We cover a wide swath of capabilities so we can develop almost any kind of toy product and deliver showroom quality models in short time.
Chrome and other metal plating on 3d printed plastic parts. We have worked with Hasbro’s Star Wars teams for many years and have built many Saber concepts. Sometimes to get a huge licensors approval, your product needs to look like the real Luke Skywalker’s light saber. This SLA prototype was cleaned up to meticulous detail with fine sandpaper, before being coated in actual real chrome and black rubberized handle effects.
We offer toy sculpting in Zbrush, Freeform or Rhino, among other programs
We also make wooden prototypes using the toy standard of Beachwood or other types of wood.
Graphic design and application in water decal, cut vinyl and other type of stickers.
Lighting effects involve a combination of sculpting, electronics, paint effects and programming to pull off successfully. We develop lighting and electronics effects as part of our model making and finishing labs. Here is an early prototype for Indominus Rex of Jurassic World.
Here is a comparison of our painted prototype and the final released toy for this Paw Patrol Cat Pack vehicle
Here is a fine game piece painted to meticulous detail. Notice the runic Eldar lettering and the .005” brush strokes.
Action prototypes are prototypes with performance, function and stunts. Our paint finishes survive actual use pretty well. Here is a motorcycle that our prototype lab created and we finished up the figures and motorcycle to look close to production.
Pantone color matching paint, spray/airbrush in large format for play sets and vehicles and for small to tiny figures. Hand painted details such as eyes down to tiny figures.
